Current alert: fake accounts impersonating ETFSA staff
Fake profiles are using the names, and sometimes the photos, of ETFSA consultants on WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. They contact clients and prospective clients directly, asking for personal information, banking details or upfront payments into unfamiliar accounts. We’re actively working to have them removed.

How to check a message in three steps
- Pause. Don’t click, reply, download or pay.
- Check. Call +27 (0)10 446 0371 or email [email protected]. Never use the contact details in the message itself.
- Confirm. We’ll tell you straight away whether it’s really us.
Already responded, shared details or paid?
Don’t panic, but act quickly:
- Stop engaging with the account.
- Contact your bank immediately to stop or reverse any payment.
- Let us know at [email protected] or +27 (0)10 446 0371.
- Report the profile to the platform, and report the matter to the South African Police Service.
